A Study on the Dischange Against Medical Advice in High Risk Newborn Babies


Abstract
This is a study to compare the significant differences in the high risk. newborn babies condition and socioeconomic level of their families between discharge against medical advice group and approved discharge group. The data was collected by reviewing the medical records of high risk newborn babies and their mothers. The research findings obtained are as follows
1. There was significant differences in gestational age between two groups (x2=41.83, ¥ñ 2. There was significant differences in birth weight between two groups (x2=44.13, ¥ñ <0.005).
3. There was significant differences in Apgar score both in 1 min. and 5mins. between two groups (x2=23.88, ¥ñ<0.005, x2=20.27, ¥ñ <0.005).
4. There was significant differences in sex between two groups (x=8.65, ¥ñ <0.005).
5. There was significant differences in congenital anomaly between two groups (x2=36.. 20, ¥ñ 6. There was significant differences in mothers¢¥ age between two groups (x2=25.01, ¥ñ <0.005) .
7. There was significant differences in mothers¢¥ educational background between two groups (x2=18.02, ¥ñ <0.005).
8. There was significant differences in health insurances between two groups (x2=13.01, ¥ñ <0.005) .
9. There was no significant differences in mothers¢¥ parity and religion between two groups.
10. 22 babies (42.3%) who discharge against medical advice needed respiratory support, 42 (80.8%) needed heating support for BT control, 29(55.8%) are lack of sucking and swallowing abilities, 16(30.8%) needed antibiotic therapy and 11 (21.2%) needed phototherapy.
